wheel of fortune has been a staple of american television since it was first broadcast in 1975. a variation of 'hangman' where players guess letters in an attempt to solve a puzzle to win cash and prizes determined by spinning a giant carnival wheel the. from 19 september 1983 the show's current format has been hosted by pat sajak and vannah white. it is the longest-running syndicated game show in the united states with 7000 episodes taped and broadcast as of may 10 2019 .
Similar to shows like Family Feud, the show has had its fair share of funny bloopers, hilariously wrong answers, and even some controversy around certain episodes with one contestant accused of cheating and another contestant believed to have been cheated out of winning with a correct answer.
